  • " Sunday in the Park with George ...":

From Wikipedia: This is a musical which opened on Broadway in 1984. The lyrics and music were written by Stephen Sondheim. It starred Mandy Patinkin (whom I think is a performance genius) and Bernadette Peters.

The play won the Pulizer Prize in 1985.

  • " House/Senate Majorities ...": Here's a link to an Excel spreadsheet showing the Republican and Democratic majorities in the House and Senate from 1971 to now.

  • " Now is the Time ...": From the website writingacts.wordpress.com:
This phrase, most popular as a typing phrase alongside The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog, came from a demonstration of the type-writer by Latham Sholes et al. to Charles Weller, the superintendent of the local (i.e. Wisconsin) Union Telegraph Office in 1867. (NB. Wellers assistant, who was called in to give his view on the demonstration, was a very young Thomas Edison.)

Stuck for a phrase to show the power of the machine, Wellers suggestion was lifted from an article in that mornings local newspaper.

This is, actually, on the back bar of my favorite Old Town restaurant, Landini Brothers.

    Catchy Caption of the Day

    Actual Caption:

iPod Nanos displayed in September 2008. Apple announced on Tuesday that the employee credited with being the "father of the iPod" is stepping down from his post at the iconic California company.

Why is it that inventors are called "the father of ..." and things like wars and hurricanes are called "the mother of all ...?"
