A Powell and a Rumsfeld

Wednesday, September 18, 2002

  • TITLE: "A Powell and a Rumsfeld" I saw someone on television make the Capone reference. The Powell/Rumsfeld Modification is mine.

  • "... Iraq ..." Here's a link to the Whie House Listing of the times Iraq has already cheated..

  • "...good cop/bad cop ..." This is the basis of every film noir - nope, not gonna use that phrase - every black and white dark, cop movie ever made. The good cop goes in and tells the suspect he's doing everything he can to make a deal for him, but he needs something to take back to the bad cop or the bad cop is going to come in here and beat the you-know-what out of him.

It works in the movies. It works in real-life.

  • " ... Plus a change..." The more things change, the more they stay the same.

  •     Mullings' Catchy Caption of the Day:

Actual Caption: First lady Laura Bush hosts a symposium on Women of the West in the East Room of the White House in Washington, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002. From right to left are: Mrs. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney's wife, Lynne Cheney, Alma Powell, wife of Secretary of State Colin Powell, and Joyce Rumsfeld, wife of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The event was the third salute to American author's, this time focusing on Willa Cather, Edna Ferber and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

If Laura Bush were the wife of a Democratic President the press corps would have been in full projectile sweat over the importance of the event.
