Thank You, Homer

Wednesday, September 3, 2003

  • TITLE: "Thank you, Homer" I think I've shared this with you before, but I've seen maybe three Simpsons cartoons in my whole life.

One of them had Homer J. Simpson going into a gun store named "Blood Bath and Beyond" and asking for a pistol. Upon being told there was a three-day waiting period he said, "Three days? But I'm mad now!"

  • " CBS Poll " Here's the link to the CBS News Poll about which we care so little.

  • " iambic " From Merriam-Webster's Unabridged:
A metrical foot of two syllables unstressed and stressed respectively (as in above, invent, and Tennyson's 4-foot line "he watches from his mountain walls") or short and long respectively.

By the way, a trochee is the opposite of an iamb: A stressed syllable followed by an unstressed.

Of course, at a college the Dean's team means something entirely different.
