During the Vice-Presidential debate between Senators Dan Quayle and Lloyd Bentsen in the 1988 Bensten suggested that Quayle (in his early 40's at the time) might be too young to be Vice President.

    Quayle responded that his bio was approximately the same as John F. Kennedy's at the same age.

    Bentsen, clearly ready for that, responded, "I knew John Kennedy. John Kennedy was a friend of mine. You, Senator, are no John Kennedy."
