How Many Days Hath February?

  • " Lehman Brothers ...": Here's a link to an AP piece which is a timeline of the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

On Sunday, September 14, Lehman was pushed into bankruptcy and, on the same day, Bank of America bought Merrill Lynch signaling the end of the current financial era.

  • " Adam Smith ...": Here's a link the Wikipedia entry on Adam Smith.

  • " Kindle ...": Here's the link to the review of my new Kindle e-book reader.

    Mullfoto of the Day

This is left over from Inaugural weekend. $80 to park on Monday, the day before Obama's Inaugural.

This is the equivalent of a gas station raising its prices to $17 per gallon when people are trying to flee in the face of an oncoming hurricane.

The Capitol Hilton is at 16th and K Streets in Washington. The White House is at 16th and Pennsylvania.

The Streets go: Pennsylvania Avenue, H Street, I Street then K Street.

There is no J Street in Washington.

    Catchy Caption of the Day

    Actual Caption:

This image provided by NASA shows the Comet Lulin as it was passing through the constellation Libra when Swift imaged it. This view merges the Swift data with a Digital Sky Survey image of the star field. While waiting for high-energy outbursts and cosmic explosions, NASA's Swift Gamma-ray Explorer satellite is monitoring Comet Lulin as it closes on Earth.

For the first time, astronomers are seeing simultaneous ultraviolet and X-ray images of a comet. Data acquired by Swift's Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope (blue and green) and X-Ray Telescope data (red).

While all the planets and most of the other objects in the solar system circle the sun counterclockwise, Lulin circles clockwise, said NASA astronomer Stephen Edberg. And thanks to an optical illusion, from Earth it appears as if the comet's tail is in the front as the comet approaches Earth and the sun.

Wait. What? The comet was passing ... nevermind. It's a pretty picture.
