Blix Tricks

Monday, February 24, 2003

  • TITLE: "Blix Tricks" Tricks might be too harsh a word, but I thought I needed a rhyme.

  • "... Subscription Drive ..." If you missed Saturday's e-mail about the subscription drive, you should go here to read it.

  • "... Proscribed ..." From Merriam-Webster's Unabridged:
Etymology: Latin proscribere, to publish, proscribe, from pro before + scribere to write
1 a Roman & civil law : to post or publish the name of (a person) as condemned to death with his property forfeited to the state b : to put outside the law
2 : to condemn or forbid as harmful : Prohibit

  • "... Blix Letter ..." Here's a link to the text of the Hans Blix letter as provided by the Associated Press.

  • "... Beverly Hills. Forest Hills. Or Jenkins' Hill ..." Beverly Hills is, according to its web site, actually at sea level. Forest Hills is in the Queens section of New York City. Jenkins' Hill was what is now better known as Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

  • Mullfoto of the Day:

This is what $397 Billion in Federal Spending looks like.

  •     Mullings' Catchy Caption of the Day:

This is the caption from the AP Wire:
A man jumps into an ice-hole at the lake Shartash in the Ural city of Yekaterinburg, about 900 miles east of Moscow, where the was minus 15 degrees Celsius (5 degrees Fahrenheit) on Friday.

It is just as possible this photo was taken as the man was LEAVING the water.
