* Title: Are You Now or Have You Ever Been … Is the phrase made popular during the McCarthy hearings. Senator McCarthy would ask people whether they had ever been a member of the Communist party, whether or not there was any evidence to support the question. No matter what the witness answered he or she would then be asked the next question: Do you KNOW anyone who was a member of the Communist party. Sound familiar?

* "Never get involved in a land war in Asia" is a line from a wonderful movie titled, "Princess Bride" which was directed by Rob Reiner from a novel by William Goldman. The line is delivered by a character named Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), who also punctuates his sentences with the word, "Inconceivable!"
