Annoyances of the Season

Monday, December 27, 1999

  • Title: "Annoyances of the Season" In honor of the Christmas season, I have been as nice as I can be for as long as I can be. I'm done, now.

  • "… Time Magazine's choice of Albert Einstein…" Obviously Einstein is an excellent choice. Of course he only had two really big ideas in his whole life: The "Special Theory of Relativity" and the "General Theory of Relativity." (Thanks to Eddie Junker for straightening me out on the theories) If I could have passed high school algebra the first time (without having to have gone to summer school), I probably could have figured out E=MC2 myself.

  • For the Encyclopaedia Britannica entry on Albert Enstein, go here:

  • "… Regis Philbin …" Joey Bishop reached the highest point in his career when he was the subject of a brief conversation in "Good Morning Vietnam" when the character played by Robert Wuhl goes into a rap about Bishop saying "what is the attraction to Joey Bishop?" That question has never been answered.

  • "While we're at it …" The Rat Pack was originally led by Humphrey Bogart and was given its name by his wife Lauren Bacall. After Bogart died, Frank Sinatra took over leadership of the gang and moved its operating headquarters to the Sands hotel in Las Vegas. For a photo the Pack click here:
