    Mullfoto of the Day

Last week looking down the lobby hallway of the famous Willard Hotel in Washington, DC. I moderated a panel on the 2006 elections which was sponsored by the public relations firm with which I have a professional connection, Manning Selvage & Lee.

There are some who believe the word "lobbyist" comes from the days in the 19th Century when people would wait in this hallway (Laubia from Middle English - a covered walk in a monestary) to catch members of the Administration and Congress who were in the hotel for meetings, dinner and/or cocktails.

    Catchy Caption of the Day

    Actual Caption:

Schalke's midfielder Fabian Ernst plays the ball against Dortmund during their Bundesliga football match at the Veltins Arena stadium in Gelsenkirchen, western Germany. Schalke won the match 3-1.

Two things: First, there's a Mr. Potatohead joke in here somewhere. Second, why, I wonder, does AFP think it needs to decribe the town where this match was being played as "western Germany?"
