  • "… the fiber optic company Global Crossing…" According to the article Global Crossing is seeking Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval to lay an fiber optic cable to Japan to serve high speed communications between the US and Asia.

  • "Remember the amazing assertion last week …" Hillary, when asked whether the house in New York would be Bill's principal residence said they "hadn't discussed it."

  • "Lobbyists are from Venus …" A play on the book - on the franchise - by John Gray, "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus."

  • "Speaking of marital communications …" Hillary Clinton's latest official non-political-this-time-we-really-mean-it trip has been something less than absolutely smooth sailing.

  • "Wait until Guiliani's people …" Norm Peterson was the character who spent nearly all day every day sitting at the bar in the long-running sit-com "Cheers." Norm was played by George Wendt.

  • "Bill Bradley appeared …" To be non-hyperbolic, a recent study put the average price of a ticket to an NBA game at $48 dollars.

  • "At first glance …" Pat Buchanan, who recently left the GOP for the Reform party, has written that the US might not have needed to get into World War II. The Hitler regime was named "The Third Reich," so "Reich to Endorse Bradley" could be interpreted as … oh, you get it.

  • "The American telephone …" Actually, I'm old enough to remember phone numbers with less than seven digits in upstate New York.
