"… Beverly, Ohio ...": This is a small town about 20 miles north of Marietta, Ohio (45750) on State Route 50. There is a golf course there named "Lakeside Golf Course" and although there is a small lake, the front nine (or the back nine, I don't remember) actually cozies up to the Muskingum River so it should be named "Riverside."
Many groups and clubs conduct golf tournaments in what is known as a "scramble" format. According to the About.com explanation:
In a scramble, each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed.
