A Minister, a Priest, and a Rabbi Walk Into ...

TITLE: “A Minister, a Priest, and a Rabbi Walk Into …” is the beginning of about two-thirds of the ethnic jokes in the English language.

“Given Bill Clinton’s unbelievable reference…” In Ottowa, Canada over the weekend, Clinton was discussing the Irish peace talks and how difficult it was to get to a final agreement. According to the AP Clinton said, “…every time they make an agreement to do it, they're like a couple of drunks walking out of the bar for the last time. When they get to the swinging door, they turn around and go back in and say, ‘I just can't quite get there.’”

“I understand Reggie White …” Reggie White, professional football player and supporter of the Gary Bauer for President effort, is an ordained minister who gave a speech to the Wisconsin state legislature in which he offended every imaginable ethnic group.

“Tuesdays with Earl …” A pun on the book “Tuesdays with Morrie” by sportswriter Mitch Albom about the final days of his mentor Morrie Schwartz. Earl Butz was the Secretary of Agriculture in the Nixon administration who told an ethnic joke in the hearing of a reporter and was forced to resign forthwith.

“…Elizabeth Dole in earth tones …” Elizabeth Dole travels back and forth across the stage and, often, through the audience while she speaks which she calls “the Dole Stroll.”

“… Moe, Larry, and Curly…” This is probably actionable on the part of the Three Stooges for comparing them to Ventura, Trump, and Harrelson.

“Stockbridge is the home of …” Norman Rockwell you know. William Chester French was the artist who sculpted the Minuteman in Massachusetts and the statue of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial on the Mall in Washington, DC.

“…Alice’s Restaurant…” was a very popular anti-war folk song by Arlo Guthrie. The chorus went, “You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant. Walk right in it’s around the back, just a half a mile from the railroad track. You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant.”

“Quarks are solitary …” Quarks are elementary sub-atomic particles which occur as Up, Down, Bottom, Top, and my personal favorite, Charmed.
