Monica and the Managers

“… indoor-outdoor coverage of Monica …” -- The extremely limited views of Monica were, nonetheless, being covered like a cheap carpet by every news organization, hence “indoor-outdoor.”

“… there must be 127 Members of the United States Senate …” -- There are, of course, only 100 Members of the Senate but just about every one of them was on television over the weekend.

“… the wonderful spirit of bipartisanship …” -- The Democrats in the Senate have made much – too much – of the fact that the rules under which they were operating during this trial was approved 100 – 0.

“ … Imus’ executive producer …” -- As I’ve explained before, Don Imus has a radio program out of New York which is simulcast on MSNBC. Last week they sent Bernard McGuirk to Washington to do man-on-the-street interviews which, on Friday, happened to have occurred in front of the Mayflower Hotel.

“ … “a scene out of Midnight Express …” -- Midnight Express was a movie about a young man who gets caught attempting to smuggle drugs out of Turkey and is thrown into a – you guessed it – Turkish prison.
