Won't You Come Clean, Sue Bailey?

Friday September 29, 2000

  • TITLE: "Won't You Come Clean, Sue Bailey?" A pun on the 1902 song, by Hughie Cannon "Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey?"

    Here's the refrain:

Won't you come home, Bill Bailey
    Won't you come home?
She moans the whole day long.
    I'll do the cookin', darling
    I'll pay the rent,
    I know I've done you wrong;
    'member that rainy eve that
    I threw you out,
With nothing but a fine-tooth comb?
    I know I'm to blame,
    Well, ain't that a shame
Bill Bailey won't you please come home

  • "…Naomi Wolf…" For the last time. Naomi Wolf is a feminist writer who was hired by the Gore campaign to shape his image into that of an "alpha-male." She is credited with having Gore lose weight, buff up, wear tight jeans and earth tones. It's working. Men hate him.

  • "…more or less honest…" No one ever accused the Clinton/Gore team of stealing votes, but there have been whispers about campaign finance irregularities during the '96 re-election campaign.

  • The Mullings "Catchy Caption of the Day"
Bill Clinton asks for brevity at a Cabinet meeting during a rare break from soft-money fund-raising

  • "... Dr. Bailey..." is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
