There But for Fortune

Rich Galen

Monday, May 21, 2007

  • " There But for Fortune ..." A 1960's-era folk song written by Phil Ochs and popularized by folksinger Joan Baez. I always felt Ochs wrote songs in the Woody Guthrie protest/folk vein, as opposed to Bob Dylan's commentaries on society and culture.

Here is the link to the About.Com biography of Phil Ochs.

I always wondered how they did this. To assemble a big construction crane (foreground) they use a lighter crane (background) and put it together one section at a time.

    Actual Caption:

All in the thumbs, a competitor gets busy texting in the LG National Texting Championship, 21 April, at the Roseland Ballroom in New York which was won by 13-year-old Morgan Pozgar who managed to text in the final the message: "Supercalifragilisticexpialidoucious! Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious. If you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious", without abreviations or errors.

But can she text "Why am I sitting by myself at lunch again, Mommy?"
